St. Patrick's Parish Food Recovery Program

Martha's Pantry

"Nourishing Our Neighbors"

Serving our parish family and the greater Maple Ridge community with fresh, recovered foods and essential goods.

WELCOME TO MARTHA'S PANTRY

Sharing Abundance, Reducing Waste

What is Food Recovery? Food recovery is the practice of safely collecting edible, high-quality food from commercial grocery stores and distributors that would otherwise go to waste, and redistributing it directly to families in our local community.

At St. Patrick’s, we gather fresh produce, bakery items, dairy, and pantry goods accumulated over two weeks and open our gymnasium doors to everyone. Whether you are part of our parish family or a neighbor in Maple Ridge, all are welcome to come and take what they need.

When & What to Expect

  • Bi-Weekly Giveaways: Giveaways take place roughly every two weeks, usually on Sundays around 12:30 PM. Because times shift based on parish events, signing up for notifications is essential!
  • Location: St. Patrick’s Parish Gymnasium.
  • First Visit Tips: Plan to arrive on time and expect a lineup outside. We fill the gym with as much recovered food as possible, and guests help themselves to what they need.

A Gentle Request: Kindness & Courtesy First

To ensure everyone is treated with dignity, safety, and care, we kindly ask all visitors to keep the following guidelines in mind:

  • Mobility Challenges: Individuals utilizing mobility aids (walkers, canes) or who are unable to walk easily into the gymnasium are invited to form a separate line at the gate. We will invite guests with mobility challenges to enter first.
  • General Lineup: Families with children, able-bodied individuals, and those with large carts are asked to remain in the main lineup.
  • Safety First: For everyone's safety, please no running, and children must enter alongside their parents.
